Paulo Mourão, NIPE researcher, publishes two books on the Economics of Forgetfulness

Paulo Mourão, NIPE researcher and Professor at the Economics Department, participated in the co-edition of two books with Professors Carmela Sanchez and Bruno Varela, from the University of Santiago de Compostela.

The two books were released this week, by Routledge, addressing the concept of the “Economy of Forgetfulness” and referring to the several regions forgotten by public and private investment, but which became spaces with economic growth, employment leverage and better quality of life, after the intervention of several agents.

This concept had already been explored by the NIPE researcher in his work published in 2020, by UMinho Editora. The two new books focus on European cases (first book, entitled “Regional Development and Forgotten Spaces Global Policy Experiences and Implications“) and international cases (second book, with the title “Regional Development and Forgotten Spaces Global Policy Experiences and Implications“).

The two books will be presented in September and October at the University of Santiago de Compostela and at the University of Minho.
