Fernando Alexandre was awarded with the 2022 Scientific Merit Prize of University of Minho, for his research activity.
The University of Minho awarded,on the 17th February 2022, in its 48th-anniversary ceremony, the 2022 Scientific Merit Prize to Fernando Alexandre, researcher at the Centre for Research in Economics and Management (NIPE) and professor of the Department of Economics of the School of Economics and Management (EEG), University of Minho.
This distinction is awarded annually to UMinho’s professors that stand out for their research activity.
“It is the validation of my work by my institution and by a whole team, which motivates and gives us the confidence to continue this path, giving the best of ourselves,” stated Fernando Alexandre.
Fernando Alexandre, an economist graduated from Birkbeck College, University of London, is an associate professor with aggregation at the School of Economics and Management, with deep and recognized research work on the Portuguese economy.
He holds the posts of vice-president of the Economic and Social Council, consultant of the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation and member of the Council for Productivity. Fernando Alexandre was Secretary of State in the XIX Constitutional Government and is a consultant to the European Commission and the Portuguese Government, among other entities. Furthermore, he is equally the author or coordinator of eight books on the Portuguese economy and articles in international scientific journals of reference.
