Founded in 1999, the Centre for Research in Economics and Management (NIPE) is a sub-unit of the School of Economics and Management of the University of Minho. Initially with a more specialized profile in Macroeconomics and Economic Policy, the membership growth broadened its interests to other areas of Economics and, later, to Finance and Management.
NIPE currently has about 90 members, of which 41 are full members. In the latest evaluation of the R&D Units carried out, in 2019, by the Foundation for Science and Technology, NIPE obtained the classification of Very Good, placing itself among the four research units best classified in the research area to which it belongs.
To produce and disseminate innovative, impactful, and rigorous research in economics and business studies that is of relevance to academia, organisations, and society.
Contribute to the advancement of economic and business sciences, through publications in scientific journals of international standing. Disseminate research findings to the academic community and broader society.
Contribute, through consultancy, to the adoption of economic policy measures based on rigorous scientific analysis of the Portuguese and European economies.
Research in NIPE is organized in five research lines.
