Abstract
In this presentation, we examine how public policies in the education sector affect academic performance, with a particular focus on the inequalities generated by the socio-economic profile of students. Using PISA data, we apply various econometric techniques to analyse the impact of these policies on different subgroups of students, with a focus on low achievers. The study shows how factors such as family income, parental education and access to resources affect school success unevenly, providing a more detailed analysis than the traditional aggregate average. The results provide insights into how public policy can be adapted to promote greater equity in the education system, and identify more effective interventions for vulnerable groups. The presentation will discuss the implications of these findings for the development of education policies aimed at reducing inequalities and increasing social inclusion.
